Andie Flores is a writer, performer, comedian, and visual + performance artist based in Austin, Texas. currently, she’s one of mass gallery’s summer 2019 hotbox artists-in-residence and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Latinx video and performance art in the University of Texas at Austin's department of Mexican American Latina/o studies. her work has appeared in fields magazine and in exhibitions and live shows all around Texas.
Andie’s work centers around isolation within cultural, artistic, and familial communities through subtle humor and magical realism. she creates self-portraits and experimental performances that place unique, often off-putting characters in public spaces and gives them room to play with the audience and gaze in the roles of clown and buffoon.
As a means of expanding Co-Lab Project's programming into the digital realm, artist/curator Vladimir Mejia selects artists to participate in an Instagram hosted month-long residency. Artists are given full control of the @colabprojectsbitres Instagram account, and all images posted by the artist are categorized by hashtags representing the artist name in residency. Original concept by Sean Ripple.
